A Growing Legacy
In 1997, Hacienda Don Ricardo was born as Ricardo “Dicky” Pérez’s personal project, driven by his passion for the countryside and inspired by his father, Don Ricardo Pérez García, who, although not a cattle rancher, was always a great innovator.
When the initial estate was purchased in Bágala, it was initially envisioned as a recreational retreat for family and friends. However, significant improvements were needed, prompting two years of dedicated effort for cleaning, reforestation, housing planning, and facility construction.
The story of HDR began with a dedication to horse breeding, a passion that drove its founder to delve into the intricacies of farm life and embrace the role of a farmer. Before long, this vision expanded to encompass both livestock farming and agriculture.
In the realm of livestock farming, the primary emphasis was on fattening the animals for consumption, prompting the introduction of machinery for food and silage production.
However, after more than three years since the inception of this endeavor, a decision was made to segregate the equine facilities from the cattle facilities to uphold sanitary standards. Consequently, in Bágala, the focus transitioned exclusively to horse breeding, with subsequent acquisition of additional farms enabling the revival of livestock farming activities.
HDR's Cattle Farms
Corotú
Located on 60 hectares, this farm is a breeding ground for reproduction and also maintains cattle in the rearing stage.
Frances
With an area of 180 hectares, this farm is dedicated to cattle reproduction.
Volcan
On its 227 hectares, this farm is exclusively used for cattle reproduction.
Caisan
With 169 hectares, this farm is a breeding ground for cattle reproduction.
Boquete
With an area of 42 hectares, this farm is not only a cattle breeding ground but also dedicated to coffee cultivation under the Aventura Coffee Estates brand.
Cochea
Located on 430 hectares, this farm is dedicated to cattle breeding.
Fénix Farm
On its 20 hectares, this farm receives cattle weighing over 800 pounds, keeping them in confinement until slaughter.
Santo Tomás
With 100 hectares, this farm also maintains cattle in the rearing stage.
Pedregalito
Located on 50 hectares, this farm maintains cattle in the rearing stage.
Bágala
Our first farm, with over 300 hectares, where we breed Pure Spanish horses (PRE) and other breeds and develop agrotourism experiences.
